JUAN
USLÉ
21
September 2007 - 6 January 2008

CAC Málaga, the centre
for contemporary art financed by Málaga
City Council, hosts an exhibition by a leading
Spanish artist, well-known both nationally and
internationally. Through 65 works under the title
Switch on / Switch off, Juan Uslé presents
his peculiar vision of reality. The paintings
presented can be divided into two broad groups:
first, a series of large black paintings entitled
Soñé que revelabas (I Dreamed that
You Revealed); and, second, a series of several
smaller and more colourful paintings. The show,
which will be open to the public until 6 January
2008, is organised jointly by CAC Málaga
and Bancaja.
“Juan Uslé’s extensive, prolific
work”, according to Fernando Francés,
CAC Málaga Director and curator of this
exhibition, “is perfectly described by its
subtlety and elegance. Proof of this is the artist’s
interest in saturation and transparency”.
The Santander-born artist, whose career began
infigurative painting and photography, is certain
to win over the public once more with the new
show presented at CAC Málaga. Entitled
Switch on/ Switch off, the exhibition features
Uslé’s most recent works, produced
between 2003 and 2007, many of them exhibited
at CAC Málaga for the first time ever.
