Ruth,
Made in MUSAC is the title of a video by Ruth
Gómez, presented in Space 5 at CAC Málaga. The
exhibition is an autobiographical work, a repetitive,
60-minute animation in which the Valladolid-born
artist portrays her moods and her fears.
The
video work Ruth, Made in MUSAC (2004),
by Ruth Gómez, clearly takes its influences from
advertising, television, design, the cinema, Internet,
comic books and video games. Ruth is a narrative
loop showing the artist's own image in multiple
form as she battles with herself to grow, develop,
and seek answers to her own questions. The piece
is like a video clip in which the central character
runs and walks, faced by uncertainty, before eventually
reaching the film's conclusion, its final verdict.
