Málaga stages an exhibition of recent work
by the British artist Julian Opie (London, 1958):
more than 40 pieces, some of them produced especially
for this show, focusing on the central theme of
the human figure.
Not only the exhibition room, but also the exterior
of the building and the lobby area will be installed
with large-format "paintings" made from
different materials on a range of supports, LED
panel animations and "sculptures" with
sound.
With his schematic figures, created using the
new technologies, Opie offers a surprising interpretation
of the classical portrait through minimalist pop
language nuanced with evident influences from
the world of advertising.
