Activities
Education
Department
The workshop and activities programme has been
specially designed to bring children and teenagers
close to contemporary art for the first time.
This idea of "first approaches" will
also involve cultural associations for the elderly,
resident of the area and other social groups.
For
those already involved in the art world, such
as teachers and students of Fine Art, Art History
and Aesthetics, the CAC Málaga has set
up courses to be given by artists and specialists.
These will offer in-depth information on art trends
and movements of the 20th and early 21st centuries.
Intensive
seminars on specific subjects will be offered
to artists and specialists in the study of contemporary
art, analysing different aspects of artistic activity
and its context. These will also cover social
issues such as genre, immigration, globalisation,
architecture and urbanism, sexuality, identity
and the environment, among others.
Guided
tours and lectures will also be organised by the
education department, involving local, national
and international artists of recognised status
in the art world.
The
CAC Málaga is open to ideas proposed by
local residents, given that their participation
is one of the key aims of the Centre over the
next few years.
A
Specialist Library
The CAC Málaga has a specialist art library
of around 1,500 volumes. It is intended to build
up this library progressively through acquisitions,
exchanges and loans which will enrich the Centre
as a documentary source. An annual budget of 12,000
Euros has been set aside for this purpose.
The
library will be open to the specialist public
and will have a librarian supervising. It will
be open to accredited researchers who need documentation
on contemporary art. A video and tape library
will be added in the future.
Other
activities
As an additional element in its programme, the
CAC Málaga will also be offering other
types of events, such as performances, film cycles
and book launches, among other events.
The
CAC Málaga's programme will be complemented
by the addition of a cafeteria and a bookshop
specialising in books on art.
